The University of Michigan board has authorized the law firm Jenner & Block to expand its investigation into the "situation" around former football coach
Sherrone Moore's firing, according to two sources familiar with the board's plan but not authorized to speak publicly.

The Chicago-based law firm was previously hired to investigate the allegations against the head football coach weeks ago, when the board first heard the rumors,
the two sources told The Detroit News on Friday. After enough evidence was gathered, Moore was fired by Athletic Director Warde Manuel for having an
inappropriate relationship with a staf

Sherrone Moore's wife says she's worried he'll hurt himself in newly released 911 call
By Samuel Dodge | sdodge@mlive.com
ANN ARBOR, MI - Kelli Moore told a 911 operator on a late December afternoon that her husband Sherrone Moore said he was trying to kill himself.

The former Michigan football coach’s wife called 911, saying she was terrified for her husband hours after he was fired on Dec. 10 for an inappropriate
relationship with a subordinate, according to the 911 audio obtained through a Freedom of Information Act request with the Ann Arbor Police Department.

Kelli Moore had no idea where her husband was, only sharing that he was possibly on a highway in a black Chevy Tahoe. She wanted police to track two of his
cellphones to find him.

The former University of Michigan assistant whose confession about a relationship with Sherrone Moore led to his firing says she thought UM had a “moral
obligation” to intervene sooner in what she described as a yearslong dynamic marked by his manipulation.

Paige Shiver, 32, spoke with ABC News in a segment that appeared on Good Morning America early Friday, April 24, detailing the extent of their relationship,
including a pregnancy she had to end due to illness and the confrontation at her apartment after he was fired.

The former Michigan football staffer told the agency that her relationship with Moore was an open secret at the university after it began when she was an intern
and he was an offensive coordinator for Michigan football in 2022. It continued on as his assistant when he was promoted to head coach in early 2024.

Attempts to end the relationship were met with “manipulation tactics,” including threats of self-harm, Shiver said, and she felt pressured to maintain the
relationship to keep her job.

“He and other coaches had control over my career, especially him. I mean, he could fire me in a second,” she said.

Of the university’s knowledge of Moore’s impact, Shiver added, “He controlled everything in my life, and they didn’t do anything about it.”

Moore, 40, was sentenced to 18 months’ probation earlier this month for misdemeanor trespassing and malicious use of a telecommunications device in a plea
deal that dismissed earlier more serious charges, including home invasion.

The former coach was fired in mid-December after Shiver reported their relationship to UM officials and later arrested after he reportedly confronted her at her
Ann Arbor-area apartment.

“All of a sudden, I hear footsteps, and they’re getting closer and louder, and I’m like, ‘Crap,’ and so, I run to my door to try to lock it,” Shiver
told ABC. “He barges in, and he’s standing (very) close to me. And he said, ‘You ruined my life. Why would you do this to me?’ … I start backing up,
and he starts following me.”

At the time, Shiver alleged she feared for her life, recounting Moore’s physical state during the incident. The 6-foot-4 Moore was wearing a hood and towering
over her before he started approaching her, she alleged.

“And I tell him to leave, that he’s not supposed to be here,” she said. “He’s not listening to me, and then, he starts grabbing, yes, butter
knives.”

Initial reports after Moore’s arrest and his initial arraignment in December detailed his alleged conduct and his threatening self-harm with a butter knife at
Shiver’s residence.

When Shiver learned she was pregnany by Moore, she said it was complicated by pompe disease. According to the National Institutes of Health and Cleveland
Clinic, it’s a rare, genetic metabolic disorder that causes progressive muscle weakness, respiratory problems and heart issues.

Although she wanted to keep the pregnancy, she told ABC that doctors said it wouldn’t be healthy for the baby. Moore, she recalled, told her to do “what’s
right for your body.”

Since their relationship ended, Shiver said she’s looked back on what happened, understanding the relationship was “not love at all.”

Although it started as a consensual relationship, she said Moore, a married father of two, “always had a way to pull me in and making me feel that I
couldn’t leave him because he was so miserable without me.”

In statements to ABC, Moore’s attorney said the former coach “has closed this chapter,” while UM said it acted promptly to terminate Moore and retained a
commitment to ensuring a professional and respectful workplace.

However, in a statement issued Friday, Shiver’s attorneys Andrew M. Stroth and Steven A. Hart reiterated what they believe to be the university’s
culpability in failing to respond to the “open secret.”

“The University of Michigan Athletic Department’s systemic failure to comply with basic policies and procedures created and enabled a hostile and male
dominated environment at Schembechler Hall that traumatized Ms. Shiver,” they said.

“… The university chose to focus solely on winning at all costs on the football field and to disregard Ms. Shiver’s safety and well-being. Interim
President Domenico Grasso, General Counsel Tim Lynch and the Board of Regents must take accountability for this failure and commit to building a NCAA and Title
IX compliant Athletic Department across all sports.”

More of Shiver’s interview interview will air on ABC News and other nighttime programs late Friday.
