Would you say having a fur baby is pretty much just like having an actual baby
???

No, I wouldn't. My wife has a dog and it's a really annoying experience for me. He is the worst-behaved dog I have ever seen in my life. He barks constantly
and loudly, he pees and poops everywhere in the house, and he has no redeeming qualities. My wife has said this is her first and last dog ever. It's been
eleven years for him and this guy just keeps hanging on despite multiple illnesses and trips to the vet where I thought he wasn't coming back. I definitely
have a death wish for Eddie, and I don't feel the least bit guilty about it. Contrast with our daughter. Our daughter is wonderful and everything we hoped
for. It's also a lot more responsibility than having a dog. There's no comparison; having an actual baby is better, and more important.

It is not the same. Humans including married couples with children have always had dogs. Only recently we focus on the lonely having pets and assume it is a
substitute for dogs. Growing up my parents also only had small dogs so I cannot answer to the experience of large dogs. Depending on the breed a dog can be more
similar to a human child as in dependent than some cats which are more solitary and independent.

My mistake, we assume with lonely people that dogs are a substitute for kids but in fact they are not. The dog will likely not outlive the human and the dog
even if highly trained cannot do what a competent adult child can do for elderly parents. Still one may prefer a dog because a dog will not kill you over an
inheritance and will love an owner even if the owner is a complete scumbag. Love from a child and actually all humans is conditional and thats sad!

Andy does your wife have a relative who is a dog person and can care for the dog? If work and child care obligations are stressing you out too much to a point
where cleaning dog shit is becoming too much, you may consider that.

I was also ridiculed for walking a small dog because the neighborhood Chad who is now an alcoholic truck driver scumbag had a big dog. I did get approached by
more girls though with the small dog. Small dogs are women magnets.

I made it clear to my wife that I ain't scrubbing dog pee or dog shit off our floors. Everyone knows where everyone stands, I just have to put paper towels
down on his pee and we are good. Lol.
