To receive an honor of this type is to attain self-actualization

I was watching a random YouTube video from the Crossroads Guitar Festival, which
is an annual gathering organized by Eric Clapton.  During the video, Eric
Clapton nods to John Mayer and John Mayer does a great solo interpreting
Clapton's classic hit, Layla.  Clapton then picks up the same theme in his solo.

Seriously, to be a talented artist such as John Mayer and receive this honor
from one of the all-time greatest guitar players who ever lived is to have your
talent seen-- and to reach the top of Maslow's hierarchy.  This isn't about John
Mayer, this is about validation by a hero.  Good for John, as that was the honor
of a lifetime.
