He starts by showing you that Colin Farrell is really driving the boat with the
two actors in it. Then, as the helicopter follows the MTI speedboat and swoops
over it, you even hear the sound of the engines getting closer. That attention
to detail is simply unparalleled. Then when they go to the nightclub, the house
band is singing along (perfectly) to a well-known recording by an artist named
Manzanita. It is so closely synced that it's unbelievable and 100% plausible.
I had to listen to the actual recording on Apple Music to determine whether they
were performing live or to a pre-recorded track.
Every brush stroke on the canvas of a Michael Mann film has profound realism and
meaning. That is why Michael Mann is my favorite film director of all time.
