Andy from private IP /all DUNE and DUNE: PART TWO -- the course of empire I watched these films recently. They are unparalleled works of art from the gifted hands of director/author Denis Villeneuve. The films got me thinking: is empire the natural course of humankind, or is democracy? They say that George Washington declined the opportunity to be king when he resigned his commission as general in the Revolutionary War, prompting King George to call him "the greatest man in the world." Had George Washington known what scale of empire were possible in the DUNE universe, would he have chosen the same? I don't know, but I do know that DUNE is a fantastic story that interweaves politics, religion, war, and wonderful characters who debate whether the lead is just a normal guy or the Messiah. What a great couple of films. #Movies _reply Sat, 20 Jul 2024 17:28:08 -0700

Andy from private IP /all @whiteguyinchinaTest I haven't read DUNE or seen the David Lynch version, but I'm excited for the book at least. The David Lynch version seems like a joke compared to the Denis Villeneuve version.
