Andy from private IP /all I've been appointed chair of the local bar association's IP and Technology section (lol). Seeking ideas and topics for meetings. I laugh when I talk about this, because I didn't think I would ever do anything with the local bar association. This is not because anything is lacking with them; it's because I'm too busy to really do anything or get involved with a group like this. However, they made it really convenient for me by allowing me to host my section meetings at my office, which is a perfect use of the Trial Laboratory. I disclosed that I have products for sale (software) that I will be discussing in the group, and they were fine with that. So here we are, I am a leader in the community, which is funny because I don't work for The Man. Anyway, I'm seeking ideas and topics for the section meetings. So far, I want to start with the intersection of law and technology, as well as emerging technologies and their application in law. Sample topics: 1. Artificial Intelligence and its use in law. Will A.I. ever replace a lawyer? Can a machine ever do what we do? 2. Computer-assisted law practice, such as automatic document generation, CRM, and organizing. 3. Ethical issues raised by the use of technology; with great power comes great responsibility. 4. Maximizing impact and efficiency of staff through state-of-the-art software tools. What else? #Education #LawFirm #Technology Tue, 20 Aug 2024 12:01:23 -0700
2tierreality from private IP /all Seems like they want the section to put on one or more CLE presentations, no? I've always felt these section meetings were intended to discuss proposed changes to laws or local practice issues. Tue, 20 Aug 2024 12:47:17 -0700
Andy from private IP /all Yes, CLE is a given. I've got endless CLE's and providers, so that's not a problem.
