Andy from private IP /all Conclave looks like a great movie I didn't know I needed a movie about the papal selection process, but this one looks highly entertaining. It's true that people who seek power are extremely dangerous. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt20215234/ #Movies Mon, 28 Oct 2024 08:21:55 -0700
zerosugar from private IP /all The 2019 film The Two Popes is a good one on Netflix. Some really great scenes. Very much inspired by reality and I like that it doesn’t paint Francis or Benedict in a bad light, but highlights their quirks. Anthony Hopkins did a great job playing Pope Benedict and I love how part of Pope Francis’ life in Argentina is highlighted. I think Conclave while it looks interesting sadly will be mostly anti Catholic propaganda, painting the more traditionalist guy as a racist. I guess they forget about the African traditionalist, Robert Sarah who was beloved by Pope Benedict. Mon, 28 Oct 2024 08:26:44 -0700
zerosugar from private IP /all Another one of my favorite recent Catholic films was the 2022 film about Padre Pio starring Shia Labeouf. Some of the scenes were just beautiful and eerie at the same time and Shia was very handsome and I feel almost favored young Padre Pio. It’s not for everybody though as it’s a more experimental film and sadly had limited release. His role in the film also inspired Shia to convert. Other popular recent films such as that of the Lombard nun Mother Cabrini were shown in more cinema because made by Angel Entertainment who gives free tickets.
