DissoMaster is being discontinued, so I will be doing my own support calculator
online
I already have my own simple support calculator for clients using the statutory
formula for child support and the Santa Clara formula for spousal support. What
it doesn't do yet is tax calculations or Smith/Ostler. It's still helpful to
give clients an idea of their potential numbers without filling out a full
DissoMaster. I could extend this program into a free web application that
anyone can use. I'm not sure what I would get out of it, but having "Andy's
Calculator" certified by the Judicial Council would be an ironic result that
might be enough for me. Or maybe I make it free with a local bar association or
San Mateo County login and charge per use to the public, with a subscription for
other courts. This follows my calendaring program, which I did for internal use
at my firm, but which anybody can use for free at the moment. It doesn't have
bells and whistles, but this is the kind of thing I can do and that I enjoy
doing: https://www.watters.law/tools/cal.php
Any feature requests? Would folks prefer essentially a duplicate of DissoMaster
as a web application, or is there a better way to do it? PDF generation would
be no problem, so I could make it look just like a DissoMaster printout for
sure-- or even better. One wish list feature I would have is a set of sliders
that adjust the numbers to a target figure in the case of an agreement--
something missing from DissoMaster. And of course, importing DissoMaster files.
What else would you find helpful?

Reply #11248006 DissoMaster is the standard
program for calculating support in divorce cases: https://www.cflr.com/products_index.php

Reply #19598635 Should I call it DissoWare or
Andy's Calculator? I'm thinking DissoWare.

Reply #17040539 I added a couple modules in the
last couple of days. One is a cash flow analyzer where you input bank statement
information and get beautiful graphs as output. It's my first time using the
gnuplot package on Linux, which is a dream because you get programmatically
generated PDF or PNG charts with a one-line command. The other added module is
a time value of money calculator, which would be useful for buyouts of spousal
support, among other areas. It's turning out great, can't believe how well it's
going.

Reply #11183528 Dissoware sounds more techno and
Andy’s calculator sounds more folksy. I sort of like Andy’s calculator. You
are taking credit, but doing it in a way that’s sort of funny and cool.
Dissoware sounds professional though.

Reply #19144292 This is so freaking great. Check
out the animated heatmap and PDF of the same thing. That's just a sample, there
are tons of visualizations planned.

Reply #18866554 Add audio and graphic features
for the various parts of the divorce settlement
Such as a crying baby with a baby momma screaming on the phone for the child
support part
A lady being loved by two or three men at a club as alimony
Maybe a guy driving a Honda civic while a lady is driving a Mercedes with some
lo g haired young guy
For sounds, I imagine a cash register chaching noise and an angry voice saying
"oh no you'd in " or "baby hungry baby need money"
Reverse this if the client is a female, ie a graphic of a guy with a fake
breastfed woman as alimony
