whiteguyinchina from private IP, post #13517588 /all 36-year-old quit 6-figure Wall Street job—now he earns $1,000 an hour working from home as a tutor: 'More fulfilling than I ever could have imagined' https://www.cnbc.com/amp/2024/11/28/millennial-quit-wall-street-job-now-earns-1000-dollars-an-hour-from-home.html In 2014, Menking made the switch from finance to full-time tutoring, thinking it would be an "equally meaningful, but less time-intensive" path into education than pursuing a second bachelor's degree to become a teacher. Ten years later, that decision has paid off — in both career satisfaction and finances. In 2023, Menking earned more than $500,000 through private tutoring, a number he's on track to match in 2024. 500k a year / 1000 is 9 hours per week Yea ok Sun, 01 Dec 2024 20:58:55 -0800

whiteguyinchina from private IP Reply #15131735 1000 an hour is not his average Maybe like a group rate Wily, where r u Can't see Americans paying more than 150-200 an hour for a tutor He probably works 50 hours a week Still good money I guess Mon, 02 Dec 2024 18:27:26 -0800

Wily from private IP Reply #14856212 $1k is crazy numbers. I can hit that rate with a group class (in fact I hit that every weekend here) but $1k for 1:1 is wild. 1:1 is a small part of our revenue. I'm at like $500-$550 for 1:1, but with a minimum of 36 hours across a few months or a year. Interestingly most of my clients are actually Asians not in China, but US boarding school or Singapore, which is where the best and richest kids from China go. Wed, 04 Dec 2024 06:59:35 -0800
whiteguyinchina from private IP Reply #10030087 I thought 1k an hour was a group rate He is basically a burned out finance bro Good for him Wed, 04 Dec 2024 13:07:26 -0800
Blee from private IP Reply #10148827 Yeah I call BS. I worked for a company for a few years that provided some pretty high end bar exam tutoring, and the best of the best charged $400 an hour. Now that was a decade ago, but I don't see anyone making $1K an hour on a regular basis. Thu, 05 Dec 2024 22:32:20 -0800
