awkward day
first i spend half an hour riding in circles looking for a stadium that wasn't a real stadium, drove me nuts. found the place, a sports bar called Hub Stadium,
i sit down at the table with the sign for my company, i'm the first one there, feel like a dweeb. then a bunch of young women come in & all sit together at
another big table that doesn't have any sign on it, i had no idea they were there for the same thing as i was. this goes on for another couple hours, even a
couple more women sit at my table, think Putin's long table, how he sits at the far end away from everyone, that's how it was. they're all avoiding me for some
reason, a couple dudes also come in but they sit with the girls, i'm still isolated, then the buffet opens, we all get a plate & sit down, then an older woman
comes by & says hi to me, starts asking me questions like it was some kind of job interview, & i'm like huh? but i was very cooperative, she turns out to be the
senior manager of the company, an accounting firm. my stay-at-home job works thru this company, but i never before knew about any of these guys, and they sure
didn't know me, they sure acted like it. Sat there for four hours drinking red wine, a couple dudes sat at my table near me at last, they just ignored me the
entire time, one of them was a manager too, he paid the bar tab in front of me, i was wondering if he would at last talk to me, even if it just about me getting
wine. he kept saying how he doesn't drink. they just talked to each other for two hours in front of me at the table, never looking at me once, except when i
waved my hand to say bye as it was getting dark outside. the older guy still ignored me, only the younger guy gave me a look & said bye. God i hate the
culture of accounting firms, everybody is such a woman.
