Protecting the Seal of Confession in Washington and in other hostile states through Tribal Sovereignty

Andy there's a lot of Tribes in California so I would be curious how it would fo in your neck of the woods if California passes a similar law: https://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=5271144

That's interesting-- I've always been of the belief that the seal of confession is a joke and is never taken seriously. As a non-practicing Catholic, I don't
have anything to confess, but I assumed that is just how it worked.

I just checked and California specifically makes child abuse a mandatory report, even if the reporter is a priest. Interesting that murder is not one of the
mandatory reports. What is a priest supposed to do if someone confesses to a murder or rape?

Encourage them to turn themselves or at least start the process. But yeah the seal is sacrosanct. It's the only privilege worth a damn outside of our attorney
client privilege.
