But every time someone in my network unexpectedly passes on, I try to reach out to people and remind them that I care about them and value our friendship. Because otherwise, I might not always have the chance to say it. I have had an unbelievably unlucky group of friends-- to date, four of my direct friends from the same era of the same college fraternity have died before their time. Rik (2004, cancer), Sean (2016, accident), Erik (2017, drugs), and Adam (2020, stroke). I don't know what the odds are, since this is crazy. All I'm saying here is: thanks everyone for being in this group, and I value our friendship. Don't waste a single day of your life, and don't waste any opportunity to remind those close to you that you love and care about them. I try to do that, even though I don't always succeed.
