The Alice Ku trial has finally started

I've had this case for five and a half years since December 2019, and the resolution is finally near. I testify next week.  We had pretrial/motions in limine
yesterday, and my co-counsel valiantly argued that I should be allowed to sit at the counsel table and attend the whole trial if I don't do any lawyering.  The
judge was angry about that and said no, I cannot be both an advocate and a witness, so I will need to skip jury selection, openings, and the first couple of
witnesses, after which I will testify and then sit in the gallery.  I don't exactly have a problem with this, I'm just annoyed that I don't get to see the whole
trial.  My staff at the firm will be attending the whole trial for their edification, and I've instructed them not to tell me anything, just to be sure.  Lol.

That was a proper decision by the judge. God forbid you risk a mistrial for some procedural reason. Definitely document those Chinese walls you are putting up
internally. Just let your people do their thing. I am sure they know what to do.

I felt a little stiff, but I was told I did great.  Was shorter than expected.  The FBI agents in the audience were watching intently the whole time, and were
taking notes.  Now I watch the rest of the trial.

Today was amazing. My co-counsel shredded the defendant, which is what we needed.  Deliberations will start Friday afternoon, most likely.

I wrote a brilliant peroration for the closing argument.  It's so good.  I will update folks on whether my co-counsel uses any portion of it.  Closing arguments
are tomorrow, and then the jury gets the case.

Trial is over, jury is deliberating.  Closings were very good.  Will update this thread with the verdict when available.

@marlonTest No, I was hourly on this case.  The family is going to hire me to
collect the judgment, as well, likely on an hourly basis.  My instructions are to pursue Dr. Herchen to the ends of the Earth to collect it, and I will do so.

Unfortunately, my co-counsel did not use my peroration, so I adapted it as a quote for the newspaper that interviewed me after the trial.  Should be appearing
online today (Saturday), I'm not sure.
