I simply don't have time to build them, and my turnaround time is already more than one year. I'm going to continue making them very rarely for specific artists on spec, or otherwise, but this is going to need to be an invitation-only product where I take my time, possibly years, to reach something releasable. The lutherie business is simply impossible to do as a side gig on top of my law firm, which consumes 90% of my time. This means that Ian will have the only Purple Rain guitar in the world for the foreseeable future, and Vivienne will have the first of three nearly-completed Blackstar gold basses. It sucks because these are world-class instruments and I really enjoy doing them, but I honestly feel better already having typed this out.
