At least six people died in a crash involving a van and pickup truck Tuesday afternoon in Tuscola County, according to reports.

The crash took place at about 4:45 p.m. and involved a van occupied by an Amish family that was traveling west on M-138, known locally as Fairgrove Road, when
it was struck by a pickup truck traveling south on Vassar that ran a stop sign, according to a report by WJRT-TV in Flint.

The crash claimed five people who were in the van and a person who was in the pickup, WJRT-TV reported. Three other people were hospitalized.

The victims haven't been identified and officials with the Tuscola County Sheriff's Office and Michigan State Police didn't immediately return messages from The
Detroit News seeking information.

MDOT reported eastbound and westbound lanes of M-138 reopened to traffic as of 9:17 p.m. Tuesday.
