Blackstar 002 is turning out absolutely amazing

Applying the first two coats of Minwax Hybrid Polyurethane on the Blackstar gold bass, unit no. 002. The artist was right to ask for gloss instead of satin--
there is a sheen/shimmering effect that did not appear in the satin prototype, and you also really see the texture of the gold. The photos were with my
professional camera, but they still do not do it justice because I cannot get the whole instrument in focus from these angles. It is going to be a very special
instrument. This is spoken for by the world's number one Bowie fan, who really deserves it.

I got the stencil from the stencil cutter last week, and I'm intending to stencil the Blackstar album cover art onto the body today, plus the stars on the neck
as fret markers. I need to pick up a foam roller at the art supply store and a couple of stencil brushes. This will be a major challenge because I have one
chance to get it right, and I can't have any bleed-through. I read up on stencil technique and watched it on YouTube, so I think I have it covered. The key is
that you have to put a layer of clearcoat in before putting the colored layer in. That seals the edges of the stencil and protects against bleed-through.
However, the timing has to be right because otherwise, the stencil will get stuck to the work piece and peel off everything when removed. This is ultimately a
materials science problem, and I'm out of my element, but I'm still optimistic. This is going to be amazing when completed.

Do you get a buzz from any volatiles used in this work?

Minimal VOCs on this one, that's one reason I use hybrid polyurethane. And I have an industrial air purifier at my office, so I've had no issues so far :)

Be sure to discuss with your patent attorney the effect on patentability of what you have disclosed in the instant thread.

We filed the application, and it was fun to write. I also submitted a proposal to the American Musical Instrument Society (AMIS) to present this solution at
their next annual meeting. The advantage of this process is that it makes a durable coating of highly pure gold within reach of the enthusiast/hobbyist with
normal tools and equipment, instead of making folks go to an electroplating laboratory.
