Journal Article
Anyone ever write a legal journal article while practicing?
I have two good topics I want to write about, both of which "solve" a problem that exists in the field of trusts and estates.
I'm need to figure how long it's going to take, and then sort out the time budget and my estimated completion date.
I am toying with the idea of just taking two weeks off, one for research and one for writing, and trying to knock it all out at once, ADHD hyperfocus style.

Just self-publish it, nobody reads journals anymore, lol.

@AndyTest I have a transparent motive. I am hoping to position myself for ACTEC
fellowship, and while having a published article isn't a requirement, it's one of the paths to get there.

What is your question? I was neighbors with a dude who worked for a scientific journal mill. Like a global company. They would essentially circle jerk
scientific research in order to bump up people's reputations. He said it's basically pay to publish.
So I imagine the situation is the same for legal journals. You probably do not want to be published in a serious academic journal because that is a time sink
and you would be competing with the esteemed Brian Leiter esq for Teresa.
You probably don't want to be published in a junk journal either. Or do you care or does it matter?
So i would look at journals where the fellows in actec submitted their stuff and i guess reach out to the editors with a synopsis of the proposed article to
gage their Interest. Maybe ask what their submission fee is lol.
I hope that is marginally helpful.

@whiteguyinchinaTest I am fishing for war stories. I was hoping someone
else on here has done this before and would provide some "do it" or "don't do it" type of advice.

As for tips, spend some time researching the law first. Make sure you are right pt at least your position is arguable. My writing process is chaotic but I
usually do an outline first and just fill out those sections from there. Like filling out a cookie tray.

@zerosugarTest he needs this published in either a law review or depending on
the length, a bar journal article if the goal is to help his career. The idea of solving a problem is good but length matters for something like this.

Law review is the last place I'd look to publish to help my career at this point. I need to attract laypeople clients, not impress brokeass pointy-headed
doucheknuckles like Nancy Leong. I cultivate a few journalist acquaintances who quote me, and write an occasional article for general readership, but law
review? That ship sailed in 2006.
