The principles behind the design of the vessel are equally applicable to the problem of drug cartel activity in the Western Hemisphere. Senator Mike Lee has recently introduced a bill that would allow the President to grant letters of marque against the drug cartels, essentially using profit motive to combat cartel activity in the Caribbean. I commend this effort as one of the few ways left to effectively fight the war on drugs without direct government involvement. It got me thinking again about the Rogue Mariner, and I decided to write up the proposal as an article here. I've been told this is solid gold; I've been told it's crazy.
