Jeremy (Pearl Jam song)

I had never seen the red band video for this classic song. It is a powerful message and a moving tribute to the victim of bullying who took his own life
because he could no longer handle it. A cautionary tale for Gen Z/Gen Alpha as they navigate post-COVID education.

Years ago when I was like 13, my uncle used to hang out with this real quirky guy in Alabama named Phillip. He was younger than him and just a weird guy. I
laugh when I hear Jeremy now because this Alabama dude claimed he moved around or something because his dad was in the military and he went to school with Eddie
Vedder and Jeremy was written about him. LMFAO.

I remember telling this guy he should date Anna Nicole Smith and he told me he wouldn’t because he has dated lots of fat women and they hate themselves so
they hate the world. For the record, I think Anna was the most beautiful playmate both skinny and fat. She was crazy sure, but she had an angelic face. In the
Guess ads, the photographer claims she wasn’t even photoshopped. That was her.

I can see Jeremy as having been written about him though fr. My uncle was born in 59, so this guy was probably born in the early 60s like Eddie Vedder. He was
sort of a Grunge hangover. Anyway I saw Pearl Jam in concert once. All grunge bands were different. Nirvana had a punk edge. Pearl Jam more of a classic rock
edge. Grunge was really before my time, but I can appreciate it.

Of course he was likely joking and thought I was young and silly enough to believe it.

Wow Phillip did lie to me. If I ever see that dude again, I’m telling him. The song isn’t about a classmate Vedder had at all. From Youtube:

This song is based off a boy named Jeremy Delle, he was a sophomore at Richardson High School in Richardson, TX. Throughout most of his short life, his parents
ignored him and were always quarreling. To make matters worse, each day at school, he was harassed and tormented by his entire class, and it drove him into a
depression. Finally, on January 8, 1991, Jeremy walked into his classroom and shot himself in front of his entire class, leaving his classmates in shock and
horror.
