She had been an animal rights activist since her 30s when she was in a film set and somebody had a goat they intended to kill for a son's communion or something to eat. She rescued the goat. In her later years, she became vocal against immigration in France in particular slaughters of animals during Ramadan. She adopted more right wing views. She was fined for inciting racial hatred as speech laws in France are much different from here although the USA is getting there with how some hate crimes are prosecuted for speech only. Anyway, the singer Chappell Roan did a tribute to Brigitte then removed it after finding out Brigitte was "racist" and "homophobic." I think it's all pretty nuts. I mean not saying I agree with all of her views, but she was an old woman born in 1934 who saw her country transform immensely. Like seriously, when I think of France now, it's not like I think of an old French man drinking from a wine glass. What do you think of first when you hear the word Paris? LOL. Not to use old age as an excuse too because I also knew plenty of silent generation folks who were totally pro-immigration, but the reality is it's still crazy some kids want to hold her to 2025 standards. She was also criticized for saying she never wanted her son. Not sure what kind of drama went on between them, but that was her business. Anyway, she was one of the last Western actresses from a bygone era. Arguably, probably one of the most famous French people ever.
