While I know there will be some debate on freedom of speech from Westerners, if we are going to look at this from a social consequences perspective, it was a good thing. Not to be on some moral high ground, but I’m not of the believe that sex work is real work or that it’s empowering to women. Most of the women on OF are poor single moms and/or failed B list celebs. While some of these B list celebrities who no longer get roles and need an outlet are making big bucks, the average user is not making good money and once they realize that after a month or so, they have already shared so much personal stuff online. Some of these are very young women who don’t realize the long term consequences of having such content online even more softcore content. Aside from these sites being exploitative even if they are slightly less exploitative than hardcore traditional porn, they made porn very addictive to users. OF turned many young men into coomers. I never remember so many coomers and proud ones too when I was growing up. These guys have no interest in real life connections because they get constant dopamine online. This leads to desensitization and sometimes even sexual dysfunction. Many are wasting all their money too. BTW, I think there is so much free porn online, somebody has to be nuts to pay for it.
