This lady named Michele Hundley Smith said she was going shopping and never returned in 2001. Long story short, she left voluntarily and lived a secret life abandoning her husband, kids, and other family members. Voluntary disappearances have always creeped me out. There is something uncanny about it. For a person to have left young and now they are old. It’s sad police resources were spent on this case. It’s sad the kids were scared to death for 24 years. I don’t blame somebody for choosing themselves, but she could have at least called from a payphone and told them she was fine and to not look for her. She could have sent a post card. Something. The only positive is at least she didn’t kill her kids like Susan Smith did. A profile commented the daughter’s facebook page which the daughter had for years to search for her mom and said that the mom is heartbroken, but needs time. lol, she has already had 24 years! m One day, a horror/thriller with dramatic elements needs to be made about voluntary disappearances.
