thirty-six years ago
had a big house fire. tried to use the garden hose outside to
put it out, but there was no water. never could forget the smell
of that smoke. big black cloud of smoke coming from the kitchen.
left the front door wide open, that was a big mistake, that fresh
air fed the fire. my mom made me run upstairs to grab a big trunk
full of stuff from her upstairs bedroom, it was so heavy, i was
in a panic.
