ST. IGNACE, MI - A Texas semi-truck driver was arrested on the Mackinac Bridge after Michigan State Police discovered an arsenal of illegal weapons during a
traffic stop for driving violations.

A 54-year-old man from Kingwood, Texas, was taken into custody March 25, 2026, at approximately 6:48 p.m. after a Motor Carrier Officer from the MSP St. Ignace
Post observed the commercial vehicle speeding and operating in a hazardous manner on the bridge.

The traffic stop revealed the suspect had an active warrant for his arrest. Further investigation uncovered he was in possession of multiple illegal weapons and
did not have a Concealed Pistol License.

Authorities seized 15 double-edged knives, including some equipped with brass knuckle handles, two throwing stars with four double-edged sides each, two
additional sets of brass knuckles with one spiked set, five loaded pistols, one loaded rifle, one shotgun, and one large double-edged sword with a 32-inch
blade.

The driver was also found in possession of two open containers of alcohol. An inspection of the commercial vehicle indicated the driver had allegedly falsified
his electronic logging device records.

The semi driver was lodged at the Mackinac County Jail and arraigned March 26 in the 92nd District Court in Mackinac County on one count of carrying a concealed
weapon. He was issued a personal recognizance bond.

Additional charges are being sought for other applicable violations. His next court appearance is scheduled for April 10, 2026.

The defendant is considered innocent unless proven guilty. MSP was assisted by the Mackinac County Sheriff’s Office and the St. Ignace Police Department.
