The search is ongoing for the missing Michigan woman who went missing while at sea in the Bahamas last weekend.
Lynette Hooker, 56, of Onsted, was reported missing by her husband Brian after the two attempted to journey from Hope Town to Elbow Cay in an 8-foot,
hard-bottom dinghy at around 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 4.
According to Bahamian authorities, Brian Hooker paddled to shore alone, arriving at Marsh Harbour Boat Yard at 4 a.m. Sunday, before he alerted police that his
wife fell overboard. She allegedly fell with the boat keys, police said, causing the vessel’s engine to shut off and leaving Brian to lose sight of her as she
was carried away by strong currents.
On Tuesday, April 7, police said the investigation, first launched on the island of Abaco, remained ongoing with support from multiple agencies, the use drone
technology and professional divers across a wide area on land and at sea.
According to the Royal Bahamas Police Force, assisting agencies have included the Royal Bahamas Defense Force, other local fire and rescue teams, the Bahamas
Air Sea Rescue Association, and the U.S. Coast Guard.
CNN reported that the Lenawee County couple were originally headed back to their yacht, “Soulmate,” when Lynette bounced out of the boat.
Lynette’s daughter Karli Aylesworth told the network that something surrounding her mother’s disappearance “just doesn’t add up,” such as why she had
the keys to the boat when she fell overboard. In her comments, Aylesworth called her mother “a very crafty and active person” who works out a lot and does
yoga.
Bahamian authorities continued to appeal to members of the public Tuesday to share any information that could assist in the investigation, including anonymous
tips to CRIME STOPPERS at 328-TIPS (8477).

The ocean is a cruel mistress
I dont mess with water personally
Like pool and beach ok but boat trips especially on the ocean scare the shit out of me
We went on an island boat ride in SE asia after like 2 weeks of storms and although the day itself was clear the ocean was amazingly turbulent
The energy of the wind is absorbed by the water and it takes much longer to dissipate
The waves basically rocked us up and down for over an hour
Almost half of the people puked. I held on and just barely did not puke. Once ashore I felt like I had just drank 10 shots of tequila. Blurry vision, nausea,
upset stomach. It took hours to feel normal, just in time to go back to mainland. On the way back the boat engine burned out because the current was too strong
and they had to arrange another boat to take everyone back
I read about sea sickness that night and read about a man who got vertigo once from the sea and it never went away
I mean can you imagine that. Perpetual sea sickness. It damaged his nerves permanently. Rare condition but still.

Another messed up thing are those cruise passengers who go overboard. Basically either shredded by propellers, eaten by sharks, or no hope of rescue.
I also snorkeled in those strong currents and man. Even with a life jacket I was exhausted. You couldn't do anything against that current. It was like being
pulled by a drain. Tourists drown all the time. You have to respect that shit.
Lakes are ok. Ocean a no no.
