There's a pretty classic case among my neighbors, Shanghainese girl who got a college degree in Germany, now lives with her parents and works 1 day per week in an office. Takes her overfed Labrador Retriever in a large dog stroller to said office, along with everywhere else she goes, which is like hiking in mountains or Buddhist monasteries or anywhere, because the dog is her "boyfriend". The dog is actually not well trained because it probably thinks it's the alpha in the household. She was dabbling in Christian revivalism (which is actually kind of "cool" in China because it's soft-banned) before getting back into Buddhism and meditation retreats and yoga retreats. When her parents Die she will spend the rest of their money within 7 years, I believe, and then move to said Western Region of China and become Impoverished. While staying in a 5-star hotel in India, she sold her parents' apartment in Guangzhou and transferred about $1 million to said guru. She then had literally no money and had to get transported back during the pandemic to China on a humanitarian flight. She spent both of the two days not doing anything except cooking delicious Cantonese dishes, which I approved of, and she actually spoke good English and tried to chat with me a lot.
