Big deals coming out of China

They dropped mutual tariffs which means the inflation of Iran war will be slightly mitigated.

America sees china as a partner not an opponent. Rumors of big deals coming soon.

Hope it sticks!

That was a crazy roster of tech executives to bring to China on Air Force One. The Art of the Deal. I'm optimistic for the future!

@whiteguyinchinaTest

It’s super sad the world of my youth isn’t coming back. In the 00s and even into the early 10s, we had a uniform of $200 jeans either made in Italy or the
cheaper versions made in Turkey or Morocco or Albania. All still great quality. Then we would wear a tank top usually made in USA that we bought at
Bloomingdale’s or Nordstrom.

So many things were still made in USA and made in Europe or maximum North Africa.

I don’t have a problem with China or skilled Chinese artisans and I sometimes buy hand made costumes for cons that are shipped from Hong Kong where I send my
measurements as I don’t have time or the best skills to sew elaborate costumes myself, but look at all the waste after the Forever 21 era and now Shein!!!
Think of all the land fills and think of all the exploitation of workers.

That’s fine you have an affinity for the Chinese people and a strong attraction to the women in that particular country, but it doesn’t mean they are
without flaws and that the systems there for production are just.

Look at people like Alyssa Liu’s father who escaped an oppressive system.

I have so much waste at home from Forever 21 and all these places. Meanwhile when I was younger, I had two or three rotating expensive jeans that I wore all the
time. I hope the 00s and early 10s system will come back and it makes me happier younger generations are thrifting. Thank God for shopgoodwill, estate sales,
and CTbids.

I also just bought some St. James shirts made in France. The quality is amazing. These are items people wear for years not something somebody wears one time and
throws in the landfill.

I read where Trump's nickname in China is "Trump the Nation Builder".

Is that true and what does that even mean?

@zerosugarTest best place to get clothes now is thrift stores, we went to one
in Italy and got a lot of quality clothes that smelled like old men

You can still get 200 dollar jeans made in Italy, its just that most people prefer 20 dollar ones that they use for a year and throw away. And to me there isn't
a big enough difference. I am not that discriminating.

Italy is a bit screwed manufacturing wise because its just too high cost to survive on high end fashion alone. And anyway all the buckles are made in china
anyway, its just some old seamstress that puts it all together in Milan or Romania or something.

Yes u r right the 90s were peak west. Lot less stuff for much more but it lasted.

Anyway that model is done because westerners no longer have the purchasing power like in 90s and even if those brands move out of China they will go to
Bangladesh or Vietnam or Mexico. Most consumer manufacturing will not come back to the west in our lifetimes.

Personally I would blame wall street. They moved the manufacturing abroad and hardly lowered prices. For decades they made money off of making stuff in china
or bangladesh and selling it at 200x markup to show good profits and pump stock market. Those other places just jumped at the opportunity US corporations were
dangling in front of them.

I mean look at wal mart and Walton family. They are just distributors of china manufactured products. think they are the biggest buyer in china.

@whiteguyinchinaTest sorry there is a huge difference between old school
miss sixty or diesel jeans vs fast fashion jeans from china. jeans are also just one example. many other clothing items.

Yea i know. But I am a dude. Dudes don't care. I used to buy stuff out of the back of a clothing factory in SE asia. Basically brand name shirts with the inside
tag cut off for like 5 bucks.

The real value now and the real flex is tailor made clothing. I get a suit made each summer. Paid 150 for it. Even got a shirt done. Wily apparently gets his
own custom made shoes.

The summit was all pageantry and putting a better spin on maintaining the status quo, but that doesn't mean it was bad. The status quo is probably better than
many alternatives I can think of.

Elon Musk and Jensen Huang stole the show generally in China - did you see Xiaomi's CEO, who is an Elon fanboy and mimicked his sleeping on a factory floor,
taking a selfie with Elon? More % Chinese like Elon Musk than % Americans since last year.

Also I think it's hilarious that whenever a Taiwanese-American does well, whether it's Jensen Huang or Jeremy Lin, basically three countries all claim him.
Jensen was out there today eating fried noodles near the South Drum tower (where I go for touristy dumplings with crazy fillings at Mr. Shi's Dumplings every
time I'm in Beijing, like last December), and everyone's hailing him as a great Chinese guy. Gave him free $5 noodles even though he's worth $200 billion.
Meanwhile he's mobbed wherever he walks in his leather jacket in Taiwan and his whole story of accidentally going to a Baptist school that his parents thought
was an elite prep school, which he then donated millions to later, is a shining case of the "American Dream" in Murrica.

The only thing I was annoyed by was no hanger-ons doing a swing to Shanghai/Hangzhou region. Last big summit there were crazy American Chamber of Commerce
dinners with a bunch of CEOs and Janet Yellen and what not. As a proud fee-paying member of the American Chamber of Commerce of Shanghai, I'd have sprung for a
4-figure plate at one of these to hang up some selfies in my office wall.

I am a bit more optimistic in that, I think more was agreed to than was put out in the press. I mean trump couldn't very well make a deal with chuna before
midterms. He has riled people up so much that an about face in this timing would be a disaster.

When they got that many CEOs to visit, it wasn't for just soybeans amd maintaining the status quo.

My guess - he will have to drop the tariffs in order to deal with inflation. I would also bet that at some point the US will agree to Chinese EV factories so
long as they are in the US.

But this TBC in like August or something. Or September when xi is supposed to come visit USA.

Anyway, over here is good vibes.
