Liars in law

Obviously, there are many of them. However, when I was in law school, I remembered everyone of those ethics rules for the MPRE. I never have tried to mislead
anybody or tell a straight up lie to risk my license. I am working on this bullshit case out of Dupage county thats not really my case, but I am lead counsel.
All the same, the opposing counsel is a new associate who went to an even shittier third tier than mine, but fancies herself as some professional. Unlike me who
never wanted to be an attorney, these are the people who have dreamed of it all their lives. At least I graduated with high honors. This girl was just some
average student at a third tier, but somehow thinks she is smart. I suspect she knew the law wasn't on her side, so what does she do? Last week she sends me a
letter and cc's the judge on it reminding me of our hearing at 10:30 am in the body of the email. She even attaches a letter addressed to the judge with this
time 10:30. Again, she put it in two locations. I am a super busy person and have even been doing a review project for extra money as I need some money to
travel in July. All the same, most of my hearings have always been on Zoom. I became licensed in late 2019 and I basically started working during the Covid era.
However, this judge wanted us to be in person which is anothr reason I will be passing along this case soon. Either way, I arrive at 10:30 and the judge is
already gone. Security tells me the hearing was at 10. I say no way, I was told 10:30. Opposing counsel is still there muttering to herself. The judge was gone.
I went to his clerk and told her I would go to the car and email her what I received. We aren't allowed to have phones in this particular bullshit courthouse so
I went to the car and emailed her. Then I went back in the court and she saw the email and knew exactly what I meant.

I would never do that to anybody. Intentionally lie about the time a week before the hearing knowing that when people search their email they look for the very
last email about the case. Dupage unlike cook county also doesn't sent automated orders. As I am about to believe, the judge comes and tells me to file a motion
to reconsider. The main part of my complaint survived, but he dismissed two counts with predjudice. I wasn't expecting these two counts to necessarily survive
anyway, but given that I was mislead by the time, he shouldn't have done that. The clerk then showed him the emails.

I hope all works. This was some bs. If the incorrect time was inadvertent (which I doubt because she wrote it in two places), it should have been corrected. If
it was intentional, well thats a serious ethics issue, but of course ARDC here won't do shit.

Also given that its not my case and I won't get a percentage of the award if any, it sucked to go through this shit. I was just expecting to go to court today,
tell the judge I wouldn't be working on this case anymore and get an extension. Now I am forced to do more shit than I wanted and with every billable hour comes
some broke af client bitching about money.

lol this girl came to Chicago from Pittsburg to attend a third tier school. At least I stayed local and didn't waste a dollar on lodging. Of course nothing
wrong with third tier schools, but yeah I can't imagine being that nuts when you are an associate on defense side and will get paid regardless. Not like she
stood to get some big reward by misrepresenting the time.
