Adults pretending to be autistic; hot opinion

I have noticed many adults are claiming to be autistic including celebs and former celebs like Holly Madison of Playboy.

If you have gotten to be an adult without an autism diagnosis, you are legit not autistic in any meaningful way. You may be socially awkward and nuts, but you
likely aren't autistic. The word Aspergers needs to make a comeback, but most of these people aren't even Aspie. Even if you can get an autism diagnosis, what
is the fucking point? If you can talk, drive, read, write, and aren't waving your arms around constantly, you legit do not have autism in any meaningful way.
The way these people describe their symptoms doesn't even sound remotely like autism, not even like mild autism.

My father had a son with autism with his affair partner/second wife. I can tell you that if these people had witnessed severe autism and seen the havoc this
wrecks on lives, they would think twice about saying they are autistic. Autism is no joke. Its certainly not cancer and not a physical disease, but it is
something that destroys families and lives.

Thats fine this diagnosis brings some adults peace to explain their social behaviors, but it also minimizes how severe this disease can be. To my knowledge,
autism is not even found on brain scans like other conditions.

but i never pretended to have autism, i do regret worrying my poor mom.
she had a massive stroke at age 65, and i had blood on my hands.
my sisters were more complicit if u ask me.
more than one boss in my past suggested that i go see a shrink.

@marlonTest thats hilarious and may be why some normies are claiming to be
autistic to get on SSI, but rich celebs or anybody employed pretending to have a late diagnosis of autism is just cringe. even if they can technically fit into
the spectrum, whats the point of announcing it now and if their life has carried on as normal, it clearly didn't affect them too muhc.

It is worth noting that the pendulum has swung on this.

Forrest Gump is a fictional story of course, but its telling of the lengths a parent would go through, in years past, to avoid having a label applied to her
child was a fairly accurate depiction of a very real and genuine phenomenon that was part of American history.

There are generations of people who probably should have been labeled with the appropriate diagnosis but they never were.

The utility of an official diagnosis is of course a matter for separate discussion.

@2tierrealityTest Forrest is a more extreme example of somebody who started
slow or at the very least had difficulty expressing emotions and reading the emotions of others. It was also sort of a gift in Vietnam that kept him alive and
he somehow even helped Lt. Dan deal with things ultimately when they met up again. I can see how a label would have hurt Forrest and stigmatized him. Without
that label, he went far. I can make an argument for both sides.

Years ago many of these types were labeled as slow or "retarded" when really they were autistic.

The people self-labeling today like Holly Madison definitely are not Forrest Gump types.

The problem with autism is even with a diagnosis, not many treatments for it and psychiatric meds do not really help with autism as they do other conditions.
Some of these adult autists may actually have ADHD or even Tourette. Many young kids are super proud to call themselves "neurodivergent" as a badge of honor.

Millennials also take helicopter parenting even further than boomers and Gen X who stopped their kids from being adults.

The woman I was dating most of this year tried to diagnose me as Aspie. I don't think so.

Even high functioning Aspergers is a rough condition to have that seriously impairs your quality of life. I also have this friend from England. She is a true
Aspie diagnosed and very proud of it. Struggles to use self check out at supermarkets even. Extremely nice girl, but you can only talk to her about like two
topics or she turns off and gets kind of weird and cold. Like once I asked her about her glasses because I just felt they looked cool and wanted to know the
brand and she acted like I was bothering her, but if I talk about what she wants to talk about, she can go on and on. She is obsessed with these topics and has
been for about two decades. Her life legit revolves around just talking about this nonsensical stuff nonstop. She also does not seem to care about her
appearance or fixing herself up at all. She is not ugly, but just extremely eccentric. She cannot be interested in hair, makeup, or clothes because again her
interests are so limited. Her interests also aren't just interests or hobbies, but full on obsession in a way thats even hard to describe. Its like consuming
and no its not the same as an Olympian training nonstop for a sport or somebody who gets a PhD immersing themselves in a topic.

If these people on tiktok desperately trying to get an autism diagnosis ever met somebody IRL with autism/Aspergers, they really would think twice about trying
to self-label as that or trying to go to doctors and exaggerate symptoms in order to get a diagnosis. Being an introvert or struggling with certain social
settings is not autism.
