Henry Montgomery, 38, allegedly tortured and burned a raccoon alive just before 11 a.m. Wednesday, the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office said. Henry Montgomery In the video, which was posted on Montgomery's Facebook page Wednesday, he says, "I caught a possum and burnt him up. That's a possum. Or it was a possum. It look like a (expletive) dog. But it's not a dog. ... Put him in the dirt." Montgomery wrote in his post that he called animal control, but when they did not come, he “had to control the situation myself and catch these dangerous wild animals in the back of my backyard. “I had to catch three groundhogs and a parcel that I had to turn into Krispy Kreme,” he wrote in the post. “You gotta do what you gotta do when you don’t get the help you need but I took care of this situation i’m the big goat when it comes to (expletive) that needs to be taken care of like this.” Henry Montgomery is charged with killing or torturing an animal for allegedly burning a racoon alive In the graphic video, viewed Sunday by The News, the barely alive, heavily burned raccoon shook in a metal cage. The Facebook page appeared to have been deleted Monday. Montgomery was charged Monday with third-degree animal killing or torturing. In a comment on his post, Montgomery wrote: “…Let one of them bite you or attack your family and see how you feel … this is just not an animal. This is a wild animal with rabies.” He told commenters to “do some positive (expletive) and get me some help if you’re so concerned with this situation so they don’t hurt my children or one of my family members or anyone who comes to my house or my property I will protect anyone (sic) of them from the wild animals with rabies stupid.” Thousands of people shared or commented on the post on Facebook, expressing disgust and tagging Detroit police, prosecutors, media or animal shelters.
