In my mom's village now since like 2-3 years ago, they divide all garbage into like 6 different trash cans. Several other comunes have adopted this. I am not against recycling, but this is too much and it is leading to garbage problems because people cannot sort trash and have to put out garbage everyday. The fact that they have a separate trash can for garbage thats the same size as the undifferentiated trash is ridiculous. People barely throw out glass. IMHO two or three garbage cans should be max. One can for recyclables (i.e. metals, paper, glass, plastic); one for true garbage; and one for composting (i.e. organics). It should be the job of garbage men that my taxes pay for to sort through the recyclables. I shouldn't have to separate paper from plastic from metal and put out trash 6 days a week.
