I felt it has so much potential in the beginning of it. Then it became utterly ridiculous. It is written by Jane Schoenbrun who also happened to make I Saw the TV Glow. I also felt it reminded me of a slightly more ridiculous version of the Italian horror him from a few years ago Classic Horror Story. Camp Miasma was by no means a traditional horror film. It’s more or less parody/satire and it was made by Brad Pitt’s production company. The story centers around a fictional slasher franchise that has declined in popularity. A young lesbian polyamorous filmmaker is supposed to be researching the original story of these films and to help make a few one. She goes to meet this 60 year old former scream queen who now has decided to live as a recluse in the location where Camp Miasa was filmed in the remote Pacific Northwest. Anyway, it was just bizarre. I thought it was going to be scary in the beginning. Then it was just mildly dumb. I would give it a 3 out of 5 stars. Not terribly bad like Five Nights at Freddy’s part 2 which is a 0.5 to me, but also not like amazing. I would even give it a 2.5.
