Side note, her execution was stayed today by the courts. Colleen’s mom traveled to Tennessee for nothing. Although I hope she still gets some peace and can maybe partake in a vigil for her daughter. If you can find a copy of this book, read it, it’s so good! I was not expecting a true crime book from the 90s to be this good, but it was a real page turner. I struggle to read books sometimes due to reading too much with work. However, I couldn’t put this down last night. I also really see how terrible this murder was and exceptionally gruesome. She starts singing after the killing. The way she mutilated and attacked this girl for no reason at all and how she tried to escape. She goes and gleefully feels her roommates at jobcorps. They think at first she is joking. Then they are so scared thinking it could be real. Then it happened at a park near the University of Tennessee. A worker arrives for his morning shift. As he is walking, he sees the scene with blood from far away and thinks at first maybe there is a dead dog or some other animal. Then he gets close and realizes it’s a woman. Christa Pike truly did an evil act and deserves severe punishment and if somebody killed one of my family members like that, I would feel exactly how Colleen’s mom feels and want the person killed. Anyway, I can understand Colleen’s mom and still feel unsettled by the state executing a 50 year old woman who has been in solitary nearly 30 years anyway. It’s also crazy how she has been in prison since she was 18 and her bf Tardaryl since he was 17. Their entire adult lives were formed behind bars basically and now they are in their 50s!Replies require login.
