There was this boy who was having a bipolar episode. His mom called police. He had an edger for the lawn in his hands and the cops shot him. Many people in this country will justify a shooting because he didn't drop the edger, but sorry an edger is not equivalent to a firearm and the police were in their cars. Here is the video. This is another reason why even if I don't think Europe is the best, I just feel its safer and a lesser evil. With the way the cops screamed, you would think he was coming at them with a gun. The police knew they weren't in danger, they just want excuses to shoot people IMHO. https://www.fox32chicago.com/news/video-shows-moments-before-des-plaines-officer-fatally-shoots-man-hedge-trimmer #News Fri, 02 Oct 2026 22:04:28 -0700 zerosugar from private IP Reply #18814063 They also had to give another kid 2 million for accidentally shooting him while pursuing a bank robber. Police in America are terrifying. This is a quasi police state. https://wgntv.com/news/northwest-suburbs/teen-mistakenly-shot-by-des-plaines-police-at-music-school-to-receive-nearly-2m-settlement/ DES PLAINES, Ill. — A settlement has been reached between the city of Des Plaines and a teenager accidentally shot by an officer who was pursuing a bank robber in 2019. Just as jury selection was set to begin, the two sides agreed to the settlement, which is close to $2 million. It comes nearly three years after the shooting. Rylan Wilder was working as an intern at UpBeat Music and Arts School, located in the 4300 block of W. Irving Park Rd., on November 19, 2019 when he was shot. It stemmed from an alleged robbery in Des Plaines and subsequent police chase into Chicago. Police had chased the suspect, they said, had just robbed a bank and fired shots at police — grazing an officer in the head. Surveillance video obtained by WGN Investigates shows the suspect running through the music store. The Des Plaines officer ran after him and then opened fire with an assault rifle as the suspect reached the store’s back door. The suspect was killed. Wilder was wounded in the crossfire. Surgeons at Lurie Children’s Hospital performed at least 18 surgeries, rerouting arteries to keep blood flowing to his hand, attempting to reconnect nerves. A finger had been severed. This was a mentally ill young man in a northwest suburb whose mother called for assistance. Imagine if we saw such a video come out of Russia or Iran. Before we talk about human rights, we need to hold up a mirror to ourselves.Replies require login.
