I saw this story. Very sad and terrifying. The woman who did it sort of looks like a crackhead and may have cocaine induced paranoia or just very bad mental
illness that oftentimes is the result of long term drugs. I feel terrible for the stabber's mom too. Oftentimes, we don't know what type of interventions the
families took.
She should have been institutionalized. In 2023, she attacked CTA workers. The end of long term institutions really created a problem. These people are too sick
for prisons. At the same time, they shouldn't be in nursing homes with old people recovering. Long term mental institutions really prevented the criminal courts
from being backlogged with the mentally ill and they safely got these people off the streets and into treatment. I realize they had a dark history, but prisons
are worse!!!

I also never take public transportation for this reason. Its better to drive downtown and battle traffic than to take public transportation. The other day, I
was forced to take blue line as my phone was dead and I had taken an uber downtown because I didn't want to battle traffic. It was fine during the day, but in
the evening you cannot take public transportation here and I would NEVER get on the red line under any circumstances at any time of the day. Blue line is ok
because it runs from Ohare to downtown and back, but the redline goes through the hoods.
