Any pilot licensees on here who would care to share their journey?

I've always wanted a pilot license in order to fly myself places. This desire nosedived (lol) when I started my family because I was not prepared to take the
risks associated with flying. Lately I have returned to it just because it would be cool. If I did it, I would want to go all the way. But I'm not sure I can
get a medical certificate due to my level of drinking. I think they would look at my case and determine the public might be better off without me flying, at
least at the moment. @phositaTest would you care to expound on this?

afaik it takes way fewer hours in the air and less money than you would think but still a lot of time.

also if you're going to be flying other people around, you kind of owe it to them to be obsessed with flying and planes, IOW, an actual pilot.

seems like there's nowhere to actually go in a Cessna or whatever if you're honest about it. you're Gen X so it's not like you're getting a jet. maybe if you
have to fly to Carson City or something it'd be convenient.

Given your ADHD flying an airplane is definitely a terrible idea

In terms of numbers, probably 95% of plane crashes are dudes like you. Some real estate or lawyer or doctor whose hobby is flying. Overlooks some basic
procedure or or report makes basic mistake because he has limited brain bandwidth to handle complex tasks.

Search Cessna crash + lawyer, there are plenty

Maybe you could like to become an aviation crash lawyer instead?

Once I almost crashed a Cessna 172,
these tall trees at the end of the runway almost got me

Take off from a non paved grassy runway.
Procedure is different & u need to fly close
to the ground for a few seconds while building
up airspeed, they call it V R speed or something,

Soft field takeoff. Procedure for this is in section 4 of the POH.
