Andy from private IP /all Why are there so many lurkers on here? 1,000 different people have visited in the last three days. Running a legal-themed BBS is a first for me, but it's interesting to see the usage patterns-- there have been 5,161 different visitors in the last 30 days, with 1,000 unique visitors just in the last three days. But there are only thirty-something registered users. Why are there so many lurkers when you have to register to post? My theory is that it's entertainment by proxy, which is interesting in itself. I wonder if other sites have the same thing happen. #Programming #Technology _reply Wed, 14 Feb 2024 16:16:08 -0800

Andy from private IP /all I did a quick filter for bots and spiders, and it's still about 4,000 people. _reply Wed, 14 Feb 2024 18:26:25 -0800

Andy from private IP /all You may be correct-- once I do per-user blocking, if there is a subsequent barrage of registrations, that seems like evidence of your theory. Lol.
