Life is the School, Love is the Lesson
One time in 2013, I saw this line on a bumper sticker on the car of someone who
turned out to be a foster mother. I liked it so much that I walked up to her
and told her she must be a wonderful person to put that on her car. She thanked
me and said it was basically an open secret that this way of life is optimal. I
agreed. I was going through some old papers recently and I decided to add this
to my website below my tagline. I think it makes a nice juxtaposition/contrast
with my tagline, The Polite Gunfighterâ„¢. This is like the main character in
Full Metal Jacket, who writes Born to Kill on his helmet but also wears a peace
symbol. It's the duality of man, but it's optimal.

I think that’s a nice bumper sticker. I can see how if it goes with the polite
gunfighter tagline and how having a sign with Life is the school and love is the
lesson in a law office may be calming to some clients going through some shit.
At the same time, it may be a bit too optimistic and hopeful for the modern
times. Life in the past few years has become more of a survival of the fittest.
There is just major hate in the world. Browsing through tiktok, I even wonder if
sociopathy and narcissism have become the norm amongst young people.
