It's a working city, super expensive, and most of it isn't particularly attractive, since the Allies bombed the hell out of it during the war. I went for the first time as a backpacker in 1996, couldn't afford to do anything. I went back several times in 2015-16 for work on expensive account, and it was an entirely different ballgame then. On someone else's money, Milan is fantastic.
