I get Foggia because my father’s family are from an Arbëreshë town that’s technically in Campania but very close to Foggia in the Apennine Mountains. Why do you not ask why the USA and in particular California are not as they were in the 1960s? I can even say Germany and Norway and Sweden are not the countries they were in the past. Downtown Helsinki and downtown Stockholm are very depressing. Italy was destroyed after WWII and has been occupied ever since. Our modern history was filled with Spanish and French colonialism too.
